NEW DELHI:

Former president Pranab Mukherjee continues to remain critical but stable at the Armys Research & Referral (R&R) Hospital located here. In the latest medical bulletin on the former presidents condition, the hospital said the veteran politician continues to remain on a ventilator.

The condition of former president Pranab Mukherjee remains unchanged this morning. He is under intensive care and continues to be on ventilatory support. His vital parameters are presently stable, the R&R Hospital said in the bulletin.

Mukherjee son and former MP Abhijit Mukherjee had said yesterday that his father was slowly responding to medical treatment and all his vital parameters were stable.

It may be recalled that the former president was admitted to the premier Army-run hospital at Delhi Cantonment on August 10. He underwent an emergency, life-saving surgery to remain a blood clot in brain. The Congress leader had tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the procedure.

The hospital had said in a bulletin yesterday that the ex-president was deeply comatose.

"The condition of Shri Pranab Mukherjee remains unchanged this morning. He is deeply comatose with stable vital parameters and he continues to be on ventilatory support."

Abhijit had later tweeted, "My father is and has always been a fighter! He is slowly responding to medical interventions and all his vital parameters are stable. I urge upon every well wisher to pray for my father's speedy recovery! We need them."

Amid rumours on his health condition, son Abhijit Mukherjee said, "My father Shri Pranab Mukherjee is still alive and haemodynamically stable. Speculations and fake news being circulated by reputed Journalists on social media clearly reflects that media in India has become a factory of fake news."
