Maharashtra: War of words between CM Thackeray & Governor over re-opening places of worship

The 'war of words' has come in light between Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and Governor of Maharashtra. On 12th October 2020, Governor of Maharashtra had sent a letter to CM Thackeray regarding re-opening of all places of worship. In that letter, Governor had reminded Uddhav Thackeray about the issue of 'Hindutva'.

In a response letter, Uddhav writes, "Received your letter asking to reopen all worshipping places. Government is thinking about this. But we do care about the lives of people of Maharashtra. That's why the way we impose lockdown slowly it is necessary to lift the lockdown slowly. We are taking all care in the battle with Corona by implementing health campaigns and making people aware of it."

Uddhav also took dig at Guv by saying that "You have mentioned my stand of 'Hindutva' in that letter but I don't need a certificate of 'Hindutva' from you and don't need to learn it from anyone else. The person who calls my state or Mumbai as POK, I don't welcome such people at home. That's not my 'Hindutva'. You have also said in the letter, "Have you suddenly turned �Secular� yourselves, the term you hated?" But I want to ask you that if re-opening of worshiping places means 'Hindutva'? And not re-opening them means a person is 'Secular'? You have taken oath as Governor and in this oath word, secularism is very crucial. Don't you agree with Secularism?

In letter Guv had said that few delegations met him with a request letter to reopen the temple and worship places, answering to this Uddhav writes in the letter, "You had said that few delegations had met you in past 3 months. You have attached their letters in your letter to me. But all these letters are of BJP leaders. Is it just a coincidence?"
