Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif blamed Pakistan Army generals, including Pervez Musharraf, for the 1999 Kargil war, adding to a series of statements by politicians in Pakistan exposing their army.

In a video, the former Pakistan Prime Minister claimed that their soldiers fought without food and weapons during Kargil war.

It was painful to see our soldier sent at peaks. Let alone food, did not even have weapons. Lives were sacrificed but what did the country or community achieve," Nawaz Sharif said during a virtual address to a gathering in Quetta.

The task of initiating the Kargil war, which witnessed the deaths of our brave soldiers and disgraced Pakistan in front of the world, was not done by the Army, but by a few generals. They threw not only the Army but the country and community in the war in such a place, that nothing could be achieved from it, Nawaz Sharif added.

Speaking from London through a video link, Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan did not achieve anything from the Kargil war.
Referring to General Mushharaf, Nawaz Sharif said generals, who were behind the Kargil war, were also the ones who plotted a coup on October 12, 1999 and declared martial law to hide their actions and escape punishment.

Pervez Musharraf and his companion used the Army for personal gains and disgraced them. Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan Army Generals threw not only the Army but the country and community in the war in such a place, that nothing could be achieved from it.
