At least three terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in a "chance encounter" on Wednesday. A gunfight broke out this morning amid intense fog near Tawi bridge in the Sidhra bypass area along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway. The three terrorists were moving towards Kashmir in a truck when security forces followed and stopped the vehicle near Sidhra checkpoint. When the police started searching the truck, terrorists opened heavy fire from the inside.''A suspicious movement of a truck that was moving towards Kashmir was observed. It was followed and stopped near Sidhra check point but its driver escaped on the pretext of attending the call of nature,'' the J-K ADGP was quoted as saying by PTI. An encounter ensued, during which the truck caught fire and the terrorists were killed. Investigation is on to find the location from where the terrorists infiltrated. A clear picture will emerge once the truck is searched, the police officer said. Efforts are on to nab the driver of the truck, who fled. The intense firing between the two sides lasted for over 45 minutes, during which several explosions apparently caused by hurling of grenades were also heard. Smoke was seen blowing from the truck, loaded with husk, and was completely damaged in the gunfight.
