Heavy rains and strong winds have caused wide desolation in northern India, claiming the lives of 22 people. Himachal Pradesh was brutally affected by landslides, with seven losses reported in separate incidents. Three members of a family lost their lives in a house collapse in Shimla, while one death each was reported in Kullu and Chamba.

13 flash floods have been reported in the past 36 hours. Distressing vids surfaced of shops being swept down in Manali, and flash cataracts carried off vehicles along the Beas River in Kullu. Manali-Chandigarh highway has been washed away due to beas river flooding. Jammu-Srinagar highway also closed due to too several landslides

There have been 6 bridges that have been washed down by flash floods so far and 700 roads have been closed all over north India in efforts to limit further desolation. Uttarakhand recorded six losses and faced significant dislocations, while Jammu and Kashmir endured relief from heavy cloudbursts.

Widespread downpours were reported in Uttar Pradesh, where a 10-year-old girl died on Sunday when a tree branch fell on the drum chalet of her house in Kaushambi following rains. In Muzaffarnagar, a woman and her six-year-old daughter were killed after the roof of their house collapsed due to heavy rain.

A red alert was issued for seven sections in Himachal Pradesh. People have been cautioned to not plan any trips to the hills anytime soon.
