Three army personnel were killed in an encounter with militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Friday, officials said. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the upper Halan forest area of ​​south Kashmir's Kulgam district after receiving a tip-off about the presence of militants, a police official said.
He said the search operation turned into an encounter when the militants opened fire on the security forces who retaliated.
Three security personnel were injured in the exchange of fire, the official said, adding that they later succumbed to their injuries.

According to the official, reinforcements rushed to the area and the search was intensified.
