The Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday filed a case in the Samba district court against a major supplier of heroin from Punjab, an official said.
A case has been registered against Jugraj Singh alias Yoddha of Amritsar, Punjab, in connection with the seizure of heroin and Rs 16.17 crore of money from the Ghagwal area a few months ago, the official said.
Singh was arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police following the attacks in Punjab's Amritsar after a case was registered against him under the Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances Act. He is currently in jail, the official added.
Hailing from Punjab, Singh allegedly supplied large quantities of heroin to local suppliers in and around Samba. During the investigation, the police proved the case against Singh and others and filed a charge sheet, the official said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Samba) Benam Tosh said that the police will leave no stone unturned to break all the modules of the illegal heroin trade and bring to justice all the suppliers, including those outside Jammu and Kashmir.
