The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) successfully completed the booster mission of the Chandrayaan-3 lander Vikram at 4:00 pm, bringing it into a much tighter and closer orbit around the Moon.

Isro said that Vikram's condition is normal.

This critical step brings the spacecraft closer to its planned soft landing on the Moon's south polar region, scheduled for August 23.

Named after the father of India's space program, Dr. Vikram A Sarabhai, the Vikram lander was launched into space by an LVM3 rocket on July 14 from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota. It entered lunar orbit on August 5 and successfully separated. from its propulsion module on August 17.
