A bomb attack on a security vehicle near a hospital complex in the Pakistani city of Peshawar on Monday killed one security guard and wounded several others, including four paramilitary soldiers, a senior police official said.
The attack took place on Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel on Warsak Road in front of the General Hospital in this restive provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Warsak Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Arshad Khan said preliminary reports indicated that five FC officials and three civilians were injured in the blast.
He added that the blast appeared to be an improvised explosive device (IED) attack.

Khan said further investigations are underway and the bomb disposal squad's report will further clarify the nature of the blast. Pakistan has recently been hit by a wave of terrorist activities organized by a banned terrorist organization.
Last week, four Pakistani soldiers were killed and seven others wounded when Taliban militants attacked two border posts in the Chitral region of northwestern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was founded in 2007 as an umbrella group formed by several militants.
Asud, believed to be close to al-Qaeda, has been blamed for deadly attacks across Pakistan, including an attack on a military headquarters in 2009, attacks on military bases and the 2008 bombing of the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad.
