Days after an offensive video of a pro-Khalistani group threatening Canadian Hindus to leave the country went viral, senior federal public safety officials and politicians condemned the "online hate video" and insisted that Hindus are "safe and welcome."
However, according to a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) report, neither the government nor politicians named the video.
Canada's Minister of Public Safety, Democratic Institutions and Intergovernmental Relations, Dominic LeBlanc, said that "the distribution of a hate video directed at Hindu Canadians goes against the values we hold dear as Canadians."
In the post, LeBlanc wrote with X, "There is no place for aggression, anger, intimidation or intimidation."

The video saw Gurpatwant Singh Pannu of the pro-Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice and a New York-based lawyer publicly asking Canadian Hindus to "go back to India."
Even Canada's Department of Public Safety called the video "offensive and hateful," the country's public broadcaster reported. "Acts of aggression, hatred, threats or incitement to fear have no place in this country and will only divide us," the ministry said in a separate message to X.

"We call on all Canadians to respect each other and support the rule of law. Canadians deserve to feel safe in their communities," the CBC said, citing the department's message with X.
The video comes days after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made explosive allegations on September 18 about the "possible" involvement of Indian agents in the June 18 killing of Canadian citizen Khalistani militant Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil in British Columbia.
India angrily dismissed Trudeau's allegations as "absurd" and "motivated". It also expelled a high-ranking Canadian diplomat as Ottawa expelled an Indian official over the incident. India earlier in 2020 designated Nijjar, 45, as a terrorist.
New Democratic Party (NDP) Leader Jagmeet Singh and Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre echoed LeBlanc's sentiments.
CBC quoted Poilievre's own statement on X, in which he noted that Hindus have been the target of hateful comments "in recent days" and added that every Canadian deserves to live "without fear" and "feel welcome in their community."

"Conservatives condemn these comments against our Hindu neighbors and friends. Hindus have made invaluable contributions to every part of our country and are always welcome here," Poilievre said. Singh, also a Sikh, said Canadian Hindus deserve to be here. "Anyone who claims otherwise does not reflect the values of inclusion, compassion, and kindness that we hold dear as Canadians," the CBC said, referring to Singh's message with X.
