Bandipore police on Saturday arrested four of its members while exposing a gang operating a fake currency. Accused five lakh counterfeit currency notes have been found.

SSP Bandipore Rahul Malik said that it was reported that some people are doing fake currency business. Based on this, we investigated and identified some suspicious people. During this time four people climbed our arms.

They have been identified as Nisar Ahmed Lone, Abdul Rashid Akhun, Shabbir Ahmed and Gulzar Ahmed Sheikh. Nisar and Abdul Rashid are residents of District Bandipore. The other two are from Kulgam district of South Kashmir.

The SSP said that these four used to mix fake notes in real currency notes and run them in the market. The Kulgam police have used our full support to catch them all. He said that from these accused, forged notes, a printing machine, paper, cutting machine and other items worth 200, 500 and two thousand rupees worth five lakh rupees have been seized.
