The NIA has asked senior Congress leader Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, a close aide of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, to share information about Hizbul Mujahideen militant Jahangir Saroori.

Summons signed by a DSP-rank officer were sent to GM Saroori at his residence in Gandhi Nagar a few days back and he was asked him to visit the NIA office.

Sources close to the family told The Tribune that Saroori had been asked to share any kind of information about the Hizb militant, who is active in his home district of Kishtwar for the last 28 years. “There is no mention of any link of the Congress leader with the militant in the summons but he has been asked to provide whatever information he has about the Hizb militant,” said a source.
