Jaipur’s 20-day-old infant one of the youngest to die of Covid-19

Twenty-day-old male infant, the youngest coronavirus case in the world, died at a hospital here on Friday. Two other patients died of COVID-19 in Jaipur and Jodhpur since Friday night taking the death toll in the state to 65. In the ongoing pandemic, Jamnagar in Gurjrat reported the death of a 45-day-old and a 42-day-old died in the US, Dr Ashok Gupta, renowned child specialist and superintendent of JKL Hospital, said on Saturday. The male child (Shuban) of Jaipur was admitted in a critical condition to the hospital in the wee hours of Friday with symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting, dehydration, and septicaemia. He was taken to the Influenza Like Illness Centre in the hospital where he succumbed to the illness at 9 am. Post-death test found him coronavirus positive, Dr Gupta said. His mother is reported to be 'hale and hearty' after delivery in a local hospital. A 55-year-old man of Jaipur's Ramganj area, and 67-year-old man of Nagauri Gate in Jodhpur also died of the virus, a state medical bulletin said. Jaipur recorded the maximum casualties at 38, including two patients of Uttar Pradesh, followed by Jodhpur 9, Kota 6, two each in Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Sikar, Nagaur, and one each in Nimbahera, Bikaner, Alwar and Tonk. The tally of infected people has risen to 2,678 with 12 new arrivals in hospitals in the state. Out of 1,116 patients who recovered after treatment 714 people have been discharged. Out of 33 districts, Bhilwara, Tonk, Jaisalmer, Jhunjhunu, and Bikaner are out of Red Zone, while Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Ajmer, Bharatpur, Nagaur, Banswara, and Jhalawar are in red zone. Six other districts are in green zone, and 19 in orange zone.
