Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu (JU), today made a surprise visit to the university’s girls hostels. After inspecting the facilities for students, the Vice Chancellor held a meeting to have on-the-spot feel of the functioning of various girls hostels besides getting feedback of the students residing in them.

The boarders apprised him of various general and hostel-related issues. They also urged the Vice-Chancellor for devising a mechanism, wherein academics and research assumed paramount importance on the campus and other allied issues should not be allowed to dominate the basic objective of imparting quality education in the institute of higher learning.

Prof Dhar assured the students and research scholars that the suggestions put forth by them with regard to further streamlining of the hostel and university functioning would get due consideration at the appropriate level.
