Jyotiraditya Scindia's departure has reignited the familiar debate over failed generational shift in the Congress which continues to rely on veterans for impact, leaving youngsters across the states sulking.
Scindia had been restive starting December 2018 when Kamal Nath, 74 at the time, was chosen as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister over him despite Congress chief Rahul Gandhi acknowledging the Gwalior scion's role in the party's assembly poll win.
Unlike a young Sachin Pilot in Rajasthan who settled for Deputy Chief Minister-ship after Ashok Gehlot, another veteran, was named CM, Scindia refused to play second fiddle to Nath, hoping Rahul Gandhi would reward him suitably.
