Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu on Thursday ordered the closure of private tuition centres in the city.

He said action would be taken against those who violate the order as the authorities had launched many initiatives to prevent the outbreak of the virus in Kashmir.

As a precautionary measure, the government has also cancelled big events and gatherings across the region till March 31. All government meetings have also been cancelled.

Earlier, only schools up to primary level were closed but a day ago, the government ordered closure of all educational institutions till March 31.
