Kathua, March 13
The police on Wednesday arrested a youth for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl at his house in the industrial area of Maroli village here on Tuesday afternoon.
The police said the accused, a factory worker, allegedly committed the crime and ran away when the parents of the victim saw him in their rented home.
The parents immediately informed the police, who after conducting the medical examination of the victim shifted her to Associated Hospital Medical College, Kathua.
“The accused was arrested from the Maggar Khad area in the jurisdiction of the Lakhanpur police station,” Shailendra Mishra, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kathua, said.
The accused was identified as Rattan Dev, a migrant labourer from Bihar. A case has been registered against him under Sections 376 and 452 of the IPC and Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO).
