Ladakh appoints nodal officers to protect healthcare workers

A day after the President approved the ordinance to protect the healthcare workers, the Ladakh administration announced the appointment of the nodal officers to ensure the security of the healthcare professionals and frontline workers discharging their duties during the pandemic. According to an order issued by the UT administration, the Commandant, Indian Reserve Police, 25th Battalion, Stanzin Nurboo (at the UT level), Zahida Bano, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Leh, and Sonam Chosjor, ADC, Kargil, (at the district level) in Leh and Kargil, respectively, have been designated as the nodal officers. “The officers would ensure effective coordination with the police department for augmenting the safety and security of all healthcare professionals and frontline workers engaged in duties for the containment of the coronavirus. They would take immediate and strict action against the offenders in case any incident of violence takes place or the healthcare workers are obstructed while discharging their lawful services,” the order said.
