Aarogya Setu was launched on April 2 by the Indian government to track the spread of coronavirus, and the contact tracing app has now been installed by more than 100 million (10 crore) people in the country. This doesn't come as a surprise as the app had already hit 50 million downloads in a mere 13 days of its launch, creating a world record in being the most downloaded apps in such a short period. Despite privacy concerns and security issues raised by many tech experts, Aarogya Setu has received a phenomenal response from the citizens of the country. It crossed 5 million downloads in the initial three days of its launch and hit 50 million users within 13 days. The app then surpassed 75 million downloads in less than 30 days. It appears to have emerged as a powerful tool in tracking the spread of coronavirus in India. The government claims that the app has alerted approximately 1.4 lakh users about their potential risk of coronavirus. It is said to have helped them in determining "whom to test" and "where to test more" against the coronavirus. Recently, the government made it mandatory for travellers on the train to have installed the Aarogya Setu app. Some reports have also claimed that the app may be made mandatory for air travel as well in the future.
