India's first contact tracing app, Aarogya Setu which is compulsory to download for private and public employees, as well as those travelling via the 'Special trains', is now available in 5 million JioPhones. Aarogya Setu was earlier available only on Google Play Store and App Store for Android and iOS smartphones, respectively. But, now the app is also available in JioPhones which is a low-cost 4G and VoLTE enabled feature phone manufactured by Reliance Industries. The app is currently available for only 5 million JioPhone users, but it will reach more non-smartphone users in the country soon. With the launch of its version for JioPhones, India looks to expand the reach of the COVID-19 tracker app to feature phone users that are a significant portion of the country's population. The news comes just days after the Union Health Ministry announced that the 'Aarogy Setu Interactive Voice Response System' has been implemented to include feature phone users as well as landline connections under the ambit of the Aarogya Setu mobile application. The app is also confirmed to come pre-installed in future smartphones which means smartphone users will not be required to download it, it will be a default application like other Google services.
