Animal Husbandry office in Delhi sealed for 48 hours after officer tests Covid-19 positive

Animal Husbandry Department office in Delhi has been sealed for 48 hours after an officer was detected positive for the novel coronavirus, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying said in a statement on Monday. The officer had come to the office on May 13. All those who came in contact with him have been directed to observe home quarantine, it added. The Animal Husbandry office is situated in a part of Krishi Bhawan building in Central Delhi. "The entire office premises will be thoroughly sanitised as per extant guidelines in this regard on May 19 and May 20, apart from the daily sanitization that takes place," according to an official memorandum. Besides the Fishery, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Ministry, Krishi Bhawan also houses several other ministries including Agriculture, Food and Consumer Affairs, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj. Meanwhile, the Delhi government decided not to test samples of deceased patients who were suspected of having Covid-19. Delhi health secretary Padmini Singla reportedly issued the order saying, No sample for COVID-19 test will be taken of a dead body. However, if doctors are satisfied with the clinical examination that the cause of death may be COVID-19 infection, the dead body may be released as suspect Covid-19 infected dead body.
