Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid down a 40-kilogram silver brick donated by Mahant Nritya Gopal Das. However, the brick will be removed after the ceremony and kept safely in a locker.

�There is no point in using silver bricks in laying the foundation of Ram Mandir. They will be removed after bhoomi pujan and will be kept in bank lockers of the Trust in State Bank of India,� a priest told. "Later, these silver bricks will be cashed out and the money will be used for the construction of Ram Mandir," he added.

Apart from the symbolic silver brick, nine bricks are also used which were sent by devotees of lord Ram from around the world in 1989. Additionally, there are 2 lakh 75 thousand such bricks out of which 100 bricks with 'Jai Shri Ram' engraving will be used for temple construction.
