U.S approves Pfizer-BioNTech Coronavirus vaccine for emergency use
December 12, 2020
The U.S FDA has approved Pfizer's Coronavirus vaccine for emergency use, with the first vaccinations expected within days. The FDA has granted an emergency use authorization for the Pfizer vaccine, developed with the German partner BioNTech, which was shown to be 95% effective in preventing the disease in a late stage trial.
U.S President Donald Trump immediately released a video on Twitter, where he hailed the development. "The first vaccine will be administered in less than 24 hours," Trump said in a televised address released on Twitter.
