On July 24, ISRO also verified Chandrian's new orbital parameters. In its most recent orbit, the spacecraft is 233 kilometers (closest point) and 71,351 kilometers (farthest point) from Earth.

Chandrayaan 3 will face several key events including an Earth-based maneuver, lunar orbit entry, lander separation, a series of deboost maneuvers, and a power descent phase for a soft landing.

If the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) successfully conducts the Chandrayaan-3 mission, India will join an exclusive list of just three countries that have achieved a soft landing on the Moon: the United States, the former Soviet Union, and most recently China.

Both the United States and the Soviet Union experienced numerous spacecraft crashes before successfully landing on the moon. China is the only country to have completed its first Chang'e-3 attempt in 2013.

A comprehensive report from ISRO scientists contains important details about the upcoming rover landing on the moon. As expected, the vehicle will be deployed to the moon's unknown south pole, where it will conduct water, ice, and mineral surveys. This is a huge advantage for India, as Antarctica remains a relatively unexplored region with enormous scientific potential.
