Eight drug traffickers - four each from Kashmir and Punjab - have been arrested so far in connection with the discovery of 30 kilograms of cocaine in a vehicle in Ramban on September 30.
The drugs were smuggled from Pakistan to Kashmir's Amroh village on the Line of Control in Kupwara district and handed over in Srinagar to two Punjabi-based traders -- Sarabjeet Singh of Jalandhar and Honey Basra of Phagwara in Kapurthala district -- who were arrested in Ramban. . said the police.
Investigation revealed that the module was active from Kupwara to Punjab. Mod chief Manjit Singh was arrested from Ludhiana on Wednesday along with Rs 4.94 crore.

The drugs were smuggled from Kupwara and handed over to the Srinagar-based duo for export to Punjab. "It is a case where a forward and reverse link was established in a few days and eight persons were arrested. The drugs were imported from Amroh, which has become notorious for drug smuggling from Pakistan," the DGP said. Recently, there were 12. cases where drugs were imported from Amroh using different drug modules.
According to the DGP, 38 number plates were also seized in Ludhiana during raids by a joint team of JandK and Punjab Police. Acting on intelligence inputs, the truck was seized and the driver responsible for delivering a 30 kg consignment of drugs to two dealers instead of receiving Rs 45,000 in Srinagar's Parimpora was arrested, police sources said.
Meanwhile, the DGP said that JandK has become a transit route for traffickers to transport drugs to Punjab. "Pakistani terrorist organizations and other agencies are using narco-terrorist money to finance terrorism," he said.
According to official data, 39 cases of drug terrorism have been registered in JandK in the last five years and almost 80 dealers have been arrested. During that time, four narcotics intended only for narco-terror were confiscated. In addition, more than 100 weapons were seized, including pistols, guns and five handguns.
