Pointed toward helping the travel industry area, Indian sightseers — the biggest inbound gathering — to Sri Lanka, would get free vacationer visas with quick impact, the Division of Movement and Displacement has reported here.

The office follows a Bureau choice from October to give free vacationer visas to voyagers from India, China, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand in the midst of endeavors to reconstruct the obligation caught island country's travel industry area that had drooped since the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings. The pilot venture to offer free visas for the initial 30 days would be in force till Walk 31, 2024, the declaration said.

The voyagers would be given double section status on appearance and the visa legitimacy would be restricted to 30 days' visit in the island country.

India is customarily Sri Lanka's top inbound the travel industry market. In October 2023, appearance figures for India finished off with more than 28,000 appearances or 26% with Russian sightseers following at north of 10,000 appearances as the second biggest gathering. The UK travelers were put third with north of 8,000 appearances.
