A day before this month's J&K Assembly election, Lok Sabha MP Engineer Rashid said he would counter PM Narendra Modi's narrative of "naya Kashmir," claiming it had "miserably failed," as he left jail on Wednesday.

Rashid declared that the people of J&K had rejected "what the Centre did on August 5, 2019 (abrogation of Article 370)" and that he felt stronger and would not disappoint them.

Speaking to reporters outside of Tihar Jail, he declared, "The vote for me was a referendum against Modi's policy, especially abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A." He also reaffirmed his commitment to "working for the people's welfare and for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue." "I will fight PM Modi ji's policy till my last breath because he has already let the people of J&K down," Rashid responded when asked if his party would back the BJP.

He explained that the reason for the rise in J&K voter turnout in the LS poll was anger towards Modi's decision to repeal Article 370 and 35 A. That wasn't motivated by love for Modi ji.

The two major parties in the Valley, the NC and the PDP, have questioned the timing of the interim bail and referred to Rashid's Awami Ittehad Party as a BJP stooge. Omar Abdullah, the leader of the NC, stated on Tuesday that Rashid was given bail in order to "gather votes" for the saffron party.

He said that a number of Kashmiri prisoners housed in Tihar Jail were in urgent need of medical attention. "We should ask the people living on the other side of the border (PoK) what they want done to address the Kashmir issue. I'm willing to say this again and again if it's considered a crime, Rashid declared.

He declared, "Kashmir is ours, and we are willing to make sacrifices for it." "I advise young people to prioritize their education and careers. It is my responsibility to speak for their desires and feelings.

Ram Madhav, a senior BJP leader and the party's election coordinator for Jammu and Kashmir, attacked Rashid's comments, claiming that he was trying to taint Valley politics.
