Since the former state became a Union Territory (UT) in 2019, Omar Abdullah was the first Chief Minister to enter the Jammu Civil Secretariat. Omar attended discussions with representatives from various departments as well as ministers and secretariat employees.
When Abdullah arrived in the winter capital to take office, he was warmly welcomed at the secretariat in Jammu. Since assuming the role of Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on October 16 in Srinagar, this was his first formal visit to the Jammu secretariat.
His Council of Ministers, which included cabinet members Sakeena Masood Itoo, Javed Ahmad Rana, Javid Ahmad Dar, and Satish Sharma, as well as Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, welcomed Abdullah.
He was also welcomed by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dheeraj Gupta, Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, and other high-ranking officials and Civil Secretariat employees.
According to an official, the Chief Minister publicly welcomed his ministers to their chambers as a show of solidarity, demonstrating his dedication to creating a cooperative work atmosphere. The Chief Minister also examined the new Assembly complex's ongoing construction while he was there.
During the Chief Minister's tour of the complex, representatives from the Roads & Buildings (R&B) Division of the Public Works Department (PWD) gave a thorough briefing on the project's phases, schedule, and future actions.
In a meeting with the Tourism Department officials, Omar Abdullah was also told that 1.98 crore visitors have come to J&K as of October of this year. In 2023, there were 2.11 crore tourists, and

The last time Omar visited the Civil Secretariat in Jammu as chief minister was in 2014, following the PDP's ascent to power and the appointment of Mehbooba Mufti as chief minister. Following the withdrawal of support from its alliance partner, the BJP, in June 2018, the PDP-led government in J&K fell. The Central government divided J&K into two UTs, including Ladakh, in August 2019.
