July 19, 2025: On Saturday, miscreants set a 15-year-old girl on fire in the Puri district of Odisha, according to authorities. They stated that she was rushed to AIIMS Bhubaneswar in a critical condition.
"I am saddened and shocked to hear the news that some miscreants at Balanga in Puri district poured petrol on a fifteen-year-old girl on the road and set her on fire," said Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who is in charge of the Department of Women and Child Development.
The girl was transferred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar right away, and every preparation is being made for her treatment. The government will cover everything associated with the treatment.
The deputy chief minister stated, "The police administration has been directed to arrest the culprits immediately and take strict action." Eyewitnesses claimed that three criminals set the girl on fire in Bayabar village while she was going to her friend's house, and that they then fled the scene.
The fire was put out by locals, and she was rushed to the hospital.
The village has been reached by police, who have begun an investigation.
