July 31, 2025: In a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump stated that Indian imports would be subject to a 25% tariff beginning August 1. In addition, he stated that the nation would be subject to additional sanctions if it continued to trade with Russia for oil and military resources. He also said the US did “relatively little business” with India because the tariffs were “far too high” and the country had “the most strenuous and obnoxious non-monetary trade barriers of any country”.

On Thursday morning, he made a second post in which he said that Russia and India could "take down their dead economies together," continuing his barrage. Naturally, these outbursts sparked a flurry of memes on social media, particularly X.

Some memes make fun of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's friendship with President Trump, while others discuss relations between the United States and Pakistan, specifically their agreement to work together to develop Pakistan's oil reserves.
