Former CRPF DG Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar has been made the third advisor to Lieutenant Governor (LG) Girish Chandra Murmu. His tenure will be deemed effective from the date he takes charge. Bhatnagar, a 1983 batch IPS, became the CRPF DG in 2017.

With the appointment of the third advisor, there will once again be a division of the departments between the three advisors. It is believed that on the basis of experiences, he can be given the responsibility of the Home Department.

He can be entrusted with the responsibility of this department to curb terrorism in the valley and improve law and order situation. LG is currently with the Home Department.

Earlier, KK Sharma and Farooq Khan were made advisors. Before the reorganization of the state, the responsibility of the Home Department was with Vijay Kumar, now an Advisor in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
