Just weeks after launching free Wi-Fi calling service in major cities for its customers, telecom major Bharti Airtel announced on Friday that 'Airtel Wi-Fi Calling' is now live all across India. The announcement comes just two days after its rival Reliance Jio announced its free voice and video calls over any Wi-Fi networks, anywhere in India.

Also, the service can now be accessed by Airtel mobile customers over any home or public Wi-Fi network, making their indoor service experience truly seamless.

There is no extra charge for making calls via this service and customers can get started on Airtel Wi-Fi calling on their smartphone without the need for any additional calling app or SIM. All you need is to activate the service is to have a smartphone that compatible with the service and an active Airtel 4G SIM with a tariff plan.

List of phones compatible with this facility:

The telecom major has been adding a number of smartphones which will support Airtel Wi-Fi calling and today, it announced that the facility is available in over 100 smartphones for its customers.

All Apple phones including iPhone 6S and above, Samsung S10, S10 , S10e, M20, One Plus 6 and 6T, Xiaomi Redmi K20, Redmi K20 Pro and POCO F1, Samsung J6, Samsung A10s, Samsung On6, Samsung M30s, OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro to list a few.


How to enable Airtel 'Wi-Fi Calling' service on your phone:

After verifying the fact that your phone is compatible to the service, here are the steps to configure it in your smartphone:

Upgrade device operating software to the latest version that supports Wi-Fi Calling

-Go to Settings on your mobile phone

-Switch On Wi-Fi Calling

-Keep VoLTE switched on as well for a seamless experience

However, the Airtel Wi-Fi Calling service is only accessible for making calls withing the country and the service cannot be used to make an international or roaming call in a foreign country.

Moreover, the telco announced that after the launch of the service, Airtel Wi-Fi Calling has already crossed one million users.

"Bharti Airtel (“Airtel") was the first mobile operator to introduce Voice over Wi-Fi in India. Following the extremely positive customer feedback, the company has accelerated the roll-out of its innovative service across the country," the company said in a statement.
