As a part of the ambitious project of Indian Railways, the Katra-Banihal railway track has natural beauty among them, the best samples of skilled engineering are one to one. The first cable rail bridge of Indian Railways is also being made on this railway track. Now just one year is left to run the train on this. This bridge can connect Kashmir with the rest of India via the railway track. it's being built on the Anji Khad between Katra and Reasi, the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi. This rail bridge being built in difficult geographical conditions is nothing in need of a big challenge for engineers. Anji bridge is being built on Chenab river. It's the same Chenab river on that the Indian Railways is building the world's highest railway bridge.

Anji bridge will connect tunnel number 2 and 3

Anji Bridge will be built by June in the year 2021
In January 2017, the development of the cable bridge started on the Anji bridge. This bridge was to be completed within 3 years. The construction work of the bridge was awarded to the HCC company. The work is going slow because of the construction of the bridge in difficult conditions. Now the construction work of this bridge will be done by June 2021. After this it'll be opened for rail traffic.

111 crore lost because of delay in construction
The construction work started on the bridge at Anji Khad in 2008, however due to the problems faced during construction, the construction work of the bridge was stopped in the year 2012. During the four years of construction work, the Railways suffered a loss of Rs 111 crore. The construction work of the Anji bridge remained almost closed from the year 2012 to 2016. History of Anji Bridge
The designer of foreign construction company MS Italfer recommended to build a cable bridge over Anji Khad. Since it's the first cable railway bridge in India, Northern Railway has visited several cable steered bridge sites in Italy, France and Denmark. Studied those bridges there. Collected many important info, that is necessary in successful construction. Anji Bridge is just 16 km from the religious city of Katra.

The construction work of Anji bridge started in 2008. In 2012, the construction agency returned the work midway. After this, the construction of the bridge stopped. The bridge was to be built on the arch then. It was later built as a cable bridge. In 2015, Sreedharan Committee gave a tour of Anji Khad to take stock of the construction work. It was only after his suggestion that a new construction work was started.
