Up in arms against the college authorities for alleged irrational evaluation of the answer sheets of semester IV exams of the undergraduate courses, students of the Government College for Women (GCW) Parade Monday held a protest outside the college main gate.

Amidst rising of slogans, the protesting students alleged that college authorities had deliberately failed a maximum number of students to generate revenue through re-evaluation and examination fees. Over 250 students, out of total 390 who appeared in Income Tax Exam of the semester IV, have been declared failed.

The protesting students accused the college authorities of not listening to them despite repeated pleas for revised results. They also demanded the removal of the Controller of Examinations and an investigation through an independent agency to ascertain the role of college authorities in the irrational results.

Earlier, a number of aggrieved students boycotted their classes and came out of the college main gate where they held a demonstration and also blocked the road by staging a sit-in. Because of the protest, normal traffic on the road remained paralyzed for more than an hour.
