If you import electric vehicles from abroad for a price of Rs 20 lakh, then you will have to pay more than Rs 3 lakh according to the import duty of 15 percent. Earlier, in the budget there was a duty of 5% on the import of electric vehicles, according to which the import duty was up to Rs 1 lakh.

The government has encouraged the electric vehicles made in the country with a special focus on Make in India. Let us tell you that the government has imposed an import duty of 25 to 40 percent on fully made commercial electric vehicles. Due to which internal combustion engine means importing petrol and diesel vehicles from abroad will now be expensive. At the same time, the government has increased the import duty of parts making electric vehicles from 15% to 30% in its budget. Electric bus, truck and two-wheeler parts have been increased from 15 per cent to 20 per cent duty on imports, due to which the companies assembling parts from abroad will have to incur higher costs.

With the government doing this, now foreign companies will have to make preparations for making electric vehicles in India. With this, the country is expected to increase employment as well as large scale employment. The government has decided to make India an electric vehicle hub. Due to this, it will become expensive to buy electric cars from Hyundai kona and MG Motors. It is expected that this change in the budget will enable the government to fulfill its objective.
