Jammu and Kashmir Science Technology and Innovation Council have been formed under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu. An order in this regard was issued on Friday by the General Administrative Department.

The council will be headed by Lt. Governor Girish Chandra Murmu. Among the representatives of the government in the Council, the Chief Secretary, the Administrative Secretary of the Finance Department, the Principal Secretary of the LG, the Administrative Secretary of the Science and Technology Department have been made the Member Secretary. The Administrative Secretary of the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department is also a member of the Council.

The Council has been made Vice-Chancellor of Schools of Jammu and Kashmir and Vice-Chancellor Member Secretary of the University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Avantipora Islamic University of Science and Technology, Vice-Chancellor of Pulwama Kashmir. Other members will include Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Katra, Vice-Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri.

Director of Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu / Srinagar, Director of Indian Institute of Technology Jammu has also been made a member. Director of National Institute of Technology, Srinagar, Director of Schemes based at Saura, Srinagar has also been made a member. Director of Central Institute of Temperature Horticulture Rangreth, Srinagar has also been made a member.

Eight representatives of the Central Government's Department of Science and Technology have also been made members. Among these, a representative of the level of Joint Secretary of the Department of Bio-Technology of the Central Government will be made a member.

Representative of the Central Government's Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, Representative of the Joint Secretary of the Forest and Environment Department of the Central Government, Representative of the Central Government's Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Council, Agricultural Research Council, New Delhi, Representative of Space Department of Central Government, Representative of Department of Earth Science of Central Government, which is joint, Not less than the rank of Secretary, he will also be included as a member in the Council. The Chairman of the Council, the Lt. Governor will also include a member as a representative of the private industry.

Six members in the executive committee
The Chief Secretary has been appointed as Chairman in the Executive Committee of the Council for Science, Technology, and Innovation. Five members of the Council will be the Administrative Secretary of the Finance Department, the Principal Secretary to the Deputy Governor, the Administrative Secretary to the Science and Technology Department will be the Member Secretary in the Executive Committee. Administrative Secretary of Planning, Development and Monitoring Department and Director of Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine Jammu / Srinagar has been made a member.
