Senior Congress leader and former minister GM Saroori appeared before the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Jammu today. Saroori has been called for questioning in connection with several terrorist attacks in Kishtwar district.

The NIA issued notice to Saroori under Section 160 CrPC and directed him to appear in the office today. This morning when the NIA office located on Saroori railway road arrived, they were surrounded by media personnel. The 67-year-old GM Saroori, a vice-president of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress and a three-time MLA from Inderwal constituency, said he was not aware of why the NIA had called him here. But he did get the information that the NIA has called him for questioning under section 160.

When reporters standing outside the main gate before entering the office asked him how the NIA was saying that they could be related to the terrorist attacks in Kishtwar, Saroori said that he had no information about this Is not. Even after talking to the officials, you will be able to know on what basis they are accusing them. Saroori said whether you think I could have any relation with Hizbul Mujahideen or Osama.

It is worth mentioning that Osama and some of his associates shot and killed senior BJP leader Anil Parihar and his brother Ajit Parihar on 1 November 2018. It was followed by the assassination of RSS acting Chandrakant Sharma and his PSO on 9 April 2019. Not only this, on 8 March 2019, the Deputy Commissioner's PSO's service rifle, on 13 September 2019, the People's Democratic Party District President's PSO's rifle was also snatched by the terrorists. The NIA is investigating these cases.

The first major breakthrough for security forces came on September 28 when they killed three notorious Hizb terrorists, including Osama bin Javed, the mastermind of all these attacks. During the investigation, the NIA came to know that Saroori's brother Mohammed Shafi allegedly had links with the Hizbul Mujahideen. An FIR was also registered in the police against a dozen people including Mohammad Shafi in this regard, but Saroori was not arrested. However, Shafi denied the allegations and said that politics was being done against him. He told NIA officials that he was always ready for a fair investigation. Soon the truth will be revealed to the people.

It is being told that GM Saroori has also been called to Jammu for questioning in the same case. He had issued a notice under section 160 a week earlier. Saroori appeared before NIA officials today as per the time period given by the NIA.
