Another highpoint to feature in the tourist circuit, the Yamuna Arti is likely to be developed on lines similar to that of the world-famous Ganga Arti. Uttarakhand Culture and Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj announced this at the Jaunsar Mahotsav that was recently held.

He added that the Uttarakhand government is also planning to develop mobile apps to promote tourism and make people aware of the rich culture and tourist places in Uttarakhand.

Apart from the Yamuna Arti, the Minister stated the state tourism department is also working toward its ambitious Mahabharat circuit for tourists from Lakhamandal area of Jaunsar, which is believed to be the site where the Pandavs spent one year in hiding during their vanvas. People also believe that it was the site of the famous Lakshagrah, the palace of wax, which was set afire as part of the conspiracy to murder the Pandavs.

Among other plans, he said that the department had earlier organised a Namo Nad programme in Haridwar, in which 1500 traditional drummers took part. Now the department is planning to create a new Guinness world record by bringing together 3000 traditional drummers in a programme from across the state.

Along with all these, there is another good news for travellers. Recently, the Uttarakhand Government agreed to develop 13 new tourist destinations in a move to promote tourism in the region. Referring to this, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat has also been quite active in the quest for new tourist destinations in the state as per a campaign.
