Forty soldiers were killed in the Pulwama terror attack last year at the CRPF's Lethpora Camp memorial in Srinagar. Umesh Gopinath Jadhav of Maharashtra is the distinguished guest of the Pushpanjali ceremony. He traveled 61000 kilometers to meet the families of the forty soldiers who were martyred in the attack. He also collected and brought soil from all the martyred soldiers' houses, cremation grounds and monuments built.

Umesh Gopinath Jadhav said that I am proud that I met all the families of the Pulwama martyrs and took their blessings. Parents lost their son, wives lost their husbands, children lost their fathers, friends lost their friends. I have collected mud from their houses and their cremation grounds and it is revered.

The memorial site was inaugurated at Lethpora camp in memory of 40 CRPF jawans who martyred on the first anniversary of the terrorist attack in Pulwama. The memorial has been set up inside the CRPF camp adjacent to the spot where Jaish-e-Mohammed militant Adil Ahmed Dar collided with a convoy of explosives-laden car security forces.

CRPF Additional Director General (ADG) Zulfiqar Hasan said after visiting the memorial site on Thursday that it is a way to pay tribute to the brave soldiers. Photographs of all those 40 jawans will be inscribed on the memorial along with their names and CRPF's motto 'Seva aur Nishta'.

The ADG said it was definitely an unfortunate incident and we have learned a lot from it. We used to be cautious during the movement earlier, but now we are being more vigilant. The sacrifice of these 40 soldiers has strengthened our resolve to eliminate the enemies of the country. Now we take action against terrorists with extra zeal. This is the reason that we have killed the big commanders of Jaish after the accident.
