The separatists have also started their activities in Kashmir in view of the gradual political activities in the Union Territory of J&K. The leaders of the moderate Hurriyat Conference, led by Mirwaiz Maulvi Umar Farooq, have also held a meeting recently. Not only this, but the Hurriyat office also opened for a while, but then its gate was locked. However, the police have denied confirmation of the opening of Hurriyat office or meeting of Hurriyat leaders at Mirwaiz.

Since the implementation of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act on August 5, 2019, the political activities of the mainstream and separatist ideology in the Kashmir Valley have almost come to a standstill. Most of the leaders and cadres of the separatist camp are under house arrest or in jails in Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country. Mirwaiz, Javed Mir, Prof. Abdul Ghani Butt, Bilal Gani Lone, Hilal War, Mussadik Adil, Mukhtar Waja and hardline Hurriyat chairman Saeed Ali Shah Geelani have not been detained. All these leaders claim to be under house arrest, but the administration denies their detention.

The Hurriyat Conference and other separatist organizations look completely calm in the changed situation of Jammu and Kashmir. During the last six months, only two or three statements have been issued by Mirwaiz Maulvi Umar Farooq and fundamentalist Saeed Ali Shah Geelani. The separatist leaders are refraining from publicly negotiating political issues. Their activities are almost at a standstill. In the same week, Mirwaiz Maulvi Umar Farooq has tried to be proactive in advancing his separatist politics amidst the political activities that are taking place in the valley.

Sources said that Mirwaiz Maulvi Umar Farooq had contacted his acquaintance over the phone this week and asked him to open the closed Hurriyat headquarters at Rajbagh. With this, he said that the members of the Executive Committee of the moderate Hurriyat Conference should be asked to come to the office at a convenient pace so that the strategy of the future is decided. Sources said that based on this message from Mirwaiz, the Hurriyat Conference office was open for a while three days ago.

Meanwhile, the police reached the spot and the office was closed. Meanwhile, Prof. Some senior separatist leaders, including Abdul Ghani Butt and Mussadik Adil, did not reach the Hurriyat office, but they gathered for a meeting at the house of Mirwaiz Maulvi Umar Farooq. The meeting lasted for about two hours. No one is willing to say what happened at the meeting. According to sources, in the meeting, Mirwaiz Maulvi Omar Farooq has discussed with his senior colleagues the possibility of a change in his political agenda and the impact of this in the changed situation of Jammu and Kashmir.

In this context, when an attempt was made to contact Mirwaiz Maulvi Umar Farooq, his phone switched off. When asked about the meeting of an officer of Jammu and Kashmir Police, he expressed ignorance that there was no restriction on Mirwaiz. His friends and relatives often meet with him.
