J&K selected for UNDP's sustainable development project

NITI Aayog has selected Jammu and Kashmir for the first pilot project in all states and union territories for the Sustainable Development Goal. In this, Jammu and Kashmir will get an opportunity to work with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). This program will work as a district indicator framework. In this, information will be sought from the concerned Deputy Commissioners. Panchayats will be ranked according to various criteria under the Panchayat Development Indicators Index. On Friday, Rohit Kansal, Principal Secretary, Planning Development and Monitoring Department, reviewed the progress made under the public outreach programs being conducted in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir by meeting with departmental officials. In the meeting, information reports from the concerned Deputy Commissioners were discussed on the status of the work done under the two phases of the Back to Village programs.

The Principal Secretary asked the Deputy Commissioners to complete the tasks listed during the mass outreach programs within the time limit. Complaint boxes should be set up in all panchayats of Jammu and Kashmir. Under the Jan Reach Program, the Lieutenant Governor is directly assessing the issues of the people by visiting various parts of the state. Complaints of people raised in the public outreach program of Union Ministers have been sent to the District Deputy Commissioners for redress.

DCs will be directed to a mechanism and nominated officers on the complaint boxes who will monitor the boxes and later send these complaints to the concerned departments for redressal. He asked the Deputy Commissioners to make a list of issues and demands and would be taken up with the Central Government to resolve the problem related to the Government of India. Commissioner, Social Welfare Department Hridesh Kumar, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department Secretary Sheetal Nanda, etc. were present in the meeting.

60000 free set in Jammu and Kashmir. Rohit Kansal, Principal Secretary, Planning Development and Monitoring and Information Department informed that most of the setup boxes have been distributed in free distribution and new boxes will be made available for distribution soon.
