Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh on Friday said that the Modi government has opened new vistas for women. While addressing a workshop on eve of International Women’s Day organized by DoPT here, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that women folk had received priority with sensitivity under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Dr. Jitendra Singh said that a distinct feature of recent years is that now we have first generation women professionals in India and similarly also in the field of politics as well as entrepreneurship. They are scaling new heights. This is not only a huge departure from the past but also a great tribute to emerging women's power, he said.

Expressing happiness over the presence of huge number of women officers and officials in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Dr Jitendra Singh said that a huge galaxy of women talent is there not only as a part of the Administrative Department for creating reforms but also in creating reforms pertaining to women. He pointed out that an order in the Pensions Department was modified recently for divorced daughters and now even if divorce case is pending in court, the daughter will still be entitled for family pension.

Dr. Jitendra Singh said, India has come full circle in women empowerment, as they are now seeking opportunities and excelling in administrative jobs and even in forces as well as hitherto lesser sought areas like Defence and Space. Earlier, women mostly opted for teaching and social welfare jobs only, he added.

Dr Jitendra Singh also presented awards to the best performers in the competitive events held on the occasion.
