Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said that the lockdown observed in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh underlines perfect coordination between administration and civil society, and has set a distinguished example of how the government and non-government agencies should work in harmony during a crisis situation.
Addressing the media through video conference on the completion of twelve days of lockdown here on Monday, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the Corona Prevention and Care work in the two Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh is being facilitated by the Centre and a constant communication is in place to obtain real-time inputs and requirements, on day-to-day basis. He said, while the Civil Administration and Police authorities have lived up to their responsibility with distinction, various social organizations and activists have equally come forward to contribute their might.

Even though there has apparently been some rise in the positive cases in the last two to three days, Dr Jitendra Singh said, there is no reason to be alarmed because this is on account of extended facilities of conducting tests as well as enhanced pace of receiving the results. What is a matter of satisfaction is that, most of the positive cases reported so far are those which either have a history of foreign travel or had come in contact with someone who had recently undertaken a foreign travel, he said. This in other words, Dr Jitendra Singh said, brings us to the inference that, as of now, there is no evidence of community transmission. At the same time, he appealed that those who have recently travelled abroad or consider themselves to be potential contacts or positive cases, should voluntarily come forward to cooperate with the health agencies. This, he said, is important not only for their own safety but would also fulfill their responsibility towards the society and the nation.

At the same time, Dr Jitendra Singh reiterated that there is no dearth of supplies, either of essential commodities or medical equipment. He said, not only the road transport of essential items has been permitted but as far as Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are concerned, lifting of supplies through Air Cargo flights has also been arranged as and when required, at a short notice.
