Assam villagers spend Rs 1 crore to build bridge without govt help

Over 7,000 people from ten villages in Nagarbera funded construction of the 335-metre bridge, which began in 2018.

For decades, crossing the Jaljali river was an uphill task during the monsoon. Country-made boats were used to ferry schoolchildren, patients and food.

Now, the villagers are asking the government to construct a concrete bridge, a local resident said.
