Presently, people are in panic due to Corona infection in Jammu and Kashmir. Dengue showed a similar outbreak about seven years ago. There were so many cases of dengue in Jammu that the Amarnath Yatra base camp in Bhagwati Nagar had to be converted into a hospital.

At the time, treatment of dengue was preferred in hospitals, just like Corona. Earlier, dengue cases were very low in Jammu and Kashmir.

In 2006, a patient died of dengue for the first time. Even after this, its cases came to an end. In 2013, the outbreak of dengue increased in Jammu and Kashmir. Hospitals in Samba and Jammu districts started filling up with suspected patients and infected patients.

For the first time, the base camp at Bhagwati Nagar had to be converted into a hospital. At that time the Director of Health was Dr. BS Pathania. He says that till a decade ago, only a few cases of dengue were registered in Jammu and Kashmir, but in 2011 suspected cases of dengue started coming up. For the first time in 2013, there was a panic of dengue in Jammu division.

According to a survey conducted in Jammu, more than 90 percent of the cases are registered from July to October. The districts of Jammu, Samba and Kathua are the most affected.
