The coronavirus pandemic has not only affected the health of millions of people around the world, but it has also badly hit the global economy. In India, thousands have lost their jobs as the lockdown imposed by the government to prevent the spread of the virus has been extended multiple times over the last few weeks.

As working professionals suffer the same fate of a lack of jobs and a steady means to make a living in these times of crisis, actor Solanki Diwakar has resorted to selling fruits on the streets. You may remember Solanki from his supporting roles in the recent Bollywood movies like Hawa, Halka, Kadwi Hawa, Titli, Dream Girl, and Sonchiriya, among others. Selling fruits from a cart in a few localities in South Delhi, the talented actor has no other choice but to support his family through this job.

Solanki originally hails from Agra and moved to Delhi in search of work in 1995. He first started serving as a domestic helper and later started selling fruits before his luck clicked in Bollywood. After struggling for years, he landed small but memorable roles in theater and movies. But the pandemic has stalled his future prospects in Indian cinema, including one supporting role in late actor Rishi Kapoor's upcoming movie.

Solanki said in a recent interview, “With the lockdown being extended I have to take care of my needs. I have to pay my rent and also need money to meet the expenses of my family. So I have turned back to selling fruits.” The struggling actor doesn’t seem to mind resorting to his old job to make ends meet during the crisis. We can only hope that he can get back up on his feet and go back to pursuing his dreams of becoming an actor when the situation gets better.
