Last Friday’s thunderstorm has caused the Taj Mahal in Agra some minor damages, the news has been reported by district officials of the city. According to reports, the famous Taj Mahal was struck by a thunderstorm and that has damaged the main mausoleum’s marble railing, and also the red sandstone railings.

Furthermore, according to reports from the Archaeological Survey of India, the door was damaged, the mausoleum’s false ceiling collapsed, while some of the nearby trees were also uprooted. The trees were uprooted in Mariam’s Maqbara, and in Mehtab Bagh.

Unfortunately, the thunderstorm also killed three people in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, expressed grief regarding the loss of lives in a statement.

Taj Mahal, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the World, is one of India’s most priced attractions. The white marble mausoleum is perhaps one of the most recognizable structures in the world. As India remains under lockdown, the Taj Mahal too is closed temporarily.
