Urging upon the Lt. Governor to give priority attention to the concerns of the educated unemployed, underemployed and retrenched employees of various departments of J&K in the SAC meet scheduled for 6th June, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman-JKNPP & former Minister said that the youth of erstwhile State had been treated most shabbily by the centre as well as state during the past few years. While the BJP led govt surpassed all other governments in giving lofty slogans and tall
assurances of youth empowerment, the actual delivery was in inverse proportion to the articulation of
the said promises, said Singh.
Never before had the educated youth of J&K been so marginalized, cheated and humiliated as during the BJP led govt said Singh while drawing the attention of the State Advisory Council especially towards the pathetic condition of the disengaged health professionals and others made to polish shoes on roadside. He was addressing a press conference in Jammu today.
Seeking the revocation of dis-engagement orders of all terminated employees of Health Department, Information Department, PHE, Education Department besides other contractual and daily rated workers, Mr. Harsh Dev said that the govt move to oust the bread earners of the respective families had operated very harshly against the educated youth during the Corona pandemic. And while the PM had been repeatedly making media announcements that none was being dis-engaged, the ground situation was totally different with massive retrenchments having been affected by the govt, regretted Singh.
Castigating the BJP govt for its double speak, Mr. Singh called for re-instatement of all SRO-24 ousted employees of Health Department, Information Department and the contractual lecturers of schools and colleges. He said that the lecturers engaged on contractual basis during 2019-20 should be allowed to continue for next academic session of 2020-21 as well in view of the fast spreading Corona Virus. And there was no justification in replacing one batch of contractuals by another by holding another recruitment exercise which would only endanger and jeopardize several lives.
He further sought extension of around 550- subject specific teachers of SAMAGRA, originally engaged under RMSA and now disengaged in the most arbitrary manner. He further draw the attention of the govt towards non release of wages of DRWs of various govt departments especially of PHE besides regularization of all eligible daily wagers and SPOs who had been made to wait for long. He called for grant of recognition and licenses to all those youth who had completed their diploma courses of Medical Assistants/Pharmacists under State Para Medical Council and provision of licenses to them for self employment which were being denied to them under the pretext of new central rules.
Seeking age relaxation in the new recruitments to be made by the J&K govt, Mr. Singh said that the SAC must consider the issue in view of negligible employment having been created during the past 4- 5 years in J&K. He said that J&K youth had hardly any employment opportunities in the past due to which several of them had become over-aged and needed to be accommodated by the govt granting suitable relaxation in age and criteria. He called for revocation of SRO-202 as the growing anger among youth could lead to disastrous consequences.
