Security forces recover huge cache of drone dropped arms & ammunition

Jammu | 22 Sept 2020

Security forces today recovered a huge cache of drone dropped arms and ammunition in Akhnoor border area of Jammu district.
A Pakistani drone had dropped arms and ammunition at Sohal Khad, a dry rivulet in Pallanwala sector, located about 12 kilometres from Akhnoor town.
According to the reports local police and army recovered two AK 47 assault rifles, three AK magazines, 90 live rounds of AK 47 rifle, one pistol and two pistol magzines.
These arms and ammunitions were drone dropped from across the border for terrorists.
The drone dropping of arms and ammunition from across the border is a new phenomenon which is being adopted by handlers of terrorism from across the border.
Security forces attribute this to the depletion of weapons among the terrorists still operating in J&K.
It was the fifth such incident since June 20 when a similar arms laden drone was shot down by Border Security Force personnel at Rathua area of Hiranagar sector in Kathua district.
Pakistan, which is desperate to fuel terrorism in the UT, has adopted the latest modus operandi of using drones to drop arms, ammunition, drugs and money.
On September 19, a Pakistani drone had dropped arms and ammunition across the LoC in Rajouri district for three LeT terrorists who had come from Pulwama district and had picked up the consignment before security forces arrested them.
