Heres why COVID patients experience loss of hair
It has been over seven months and COVID-19 continues to disrupt the lives of millions around the world. While scientists and doctors are working towards finding a solution and developing a clinically approved vaccine, the deadly virus continues to mutate and negatively affects the lives of many.

In a bid to understand each and every intricacy of Covid-19, scientists and medical experts have gone an extraordinary length to study the unimaginable ways the deadly pathogen attacks the human body. One of the most recent symptoms that have come up in many of the reports is loss of hair, especially amongst a group of Covid-infected group known as the long haulers, who have suffered long term effects of the virus.

According to a survey conducted by Dr Natalie Lambert from Indiana University School of Medicine and Survivor Corp Facebook group survey, it was found that hair loss was amongst the top 25 symptoms experienced by those diagnosed with the highly infectious disease.

The survey was conducted on around 1500 people, who had especially experienced long term impacts of Covid-19. It also suggested that long-haulers, as they were called, experienced hair loss more than nausea and congested nose. So what causes loss of hair in Covid-19 patients is what everyone wants to know at the moment. Although, the cause of the symptoms has not been scientifically proven, many have suggested that it could be in relation to stress and anxiety prompted by the disease itself. Known as Telogen effluvium, this kind of temporary hair loss happens when your body experiences a lot of stress, in the form of trauma, shock or sickness.

Besides that, nutritional deficiency due to the lack of healthy diet during the period of infection, can also result in hair loss. However, without scientific proofs, nothing can be certain.
